  • Hank Azaria filmed test scenes (some of which are on the DVD) of his character Kahmunrah with various accents including American Southerner (from Alabama) and English Cockney, before settling on a Boris Karloff impersonation.

  • When Stan Lee makes his cameo, he is seen reading the script for Kevin Smith's Mallrats (1995) and reciting the line, "Trust me true believer". As revealed on Smith's YouTube page, Stan's health was in decline and he could not muster his trademark enthusiasm so the producers looped in Lee's unused audio from Mallrats.

  • Brie Larson is allergic to cats, so her scenes involving Goose were filmed with a puppet or computer-generated VFX.

  • The name "Captain Marvel" is not used in the film until the closing credits.

  • As the kids are getting off the Camp Hope bus when first arriving, you can see the Max. Capacity is 25. The 25 is scratched over and a "23" is written above it.

  • Phil's physical appearance was partly inspired by Danny DeVito's.

  • On his way to Thebes, Hercules meets Megara after he saves her from the River Guardian, Nessos. While this is not the story of how Hercules came to know Megara in Greek legend, it IS (almost exactly) how he came to know his second wife, Deianira.

  • The rule of Hades is one of James Woods' all-time favorite characters. So much so, any time Disney needs him to reprise the character for any cartoon show and video game, such as Hercules: The Series or Kingdom Hearts, he has agreed to do so. When this film was about to go over-budget, he offered to refund his salary and finish the film for free. Disney decided against this, and finished the film anyway.
